Room at the Inn is committed to assisting our homeless neighbors by providing immediate, safe shelter, food and personal items. More importantly, we help clients identify and correct the root causes of their homelessness, in an effort to help clients regain self-sufficiency as quickly as possible and prevent future episodes of homelessness.

Room at the Inn provides emergency shelter for a maximum of 20 people a day. As an emergency shelter, homeless clients typically stay in the program for up to 30 days, with extensions possible if they are waiting for housing and need more time to complete their goals.

Homeless clients come to us through the St. Louis County Homeless Hotline. Upon arrival at our day site in Bridgeton, clients are interviewed to assist them in determining what services are necessary to improve their situation.

Client services include:

•  Safe, clean, immediate housing
•  Meals, healthy snacks and kitchen facilities
•  Case management, to help clients identify and correct the causes of their homelessness
•  Goal setting assistance
•  Physical and mental health evaluations
•  Substance abuse evaluations and counseling
•  Domestic abuse counseling
•  Referrals to more than 50 outside agencies to meet the individual needs of each client
•  Life-skills classes, including budgeting, parenting and job and life skills
•  Showers, laundry and personal items as needed
•  Telephone, computer and Internet access
•  Transportation to and from appropriate agencies/services
•  Housing placement assistance
•  Childcare
•  A place to store belongings

While staying at Room at the Inn, we make it a priority for children to continue attending school, providing some much needed continuity in their lives. Transportation to and from the school is provided.
