Room at the Inn is blessed to be part of a concerned community reaching out together to assist the homeless of St. Louis County. We serve as a catalyst for engaging compassionate members of the community to become more directly involved with the homeless in a way that is both meaningful and manageable.
Our 60+ partner congregations are the heart, soul and lifeblood of Room at the Inn. They provide their space and volunteers on the same night each month, once a month to host 10 clients. Congregations make use of church basements, gymnasiums and former convents. Kitchen and bathroom facilities must be available.
At the night sites, volunteers provide two meals (dinner and breakfast) for clients, share in an evening of fellowship and stay with them for the night. Congregation volunteers are trained, directed and assisted by the Room at the Inn volunteer coordinator.
Night sites provide:
• Transportation to and from the congregation's location
• Hospitality and fellowship
• Sleeping arrangements
• Dinner and breakfast
