Room at the Inn is designed to assist women with or without children, married couples with or without children, and single fathers with their children. Clients must be 18 years of age or older unless accompanied by a parent. All of our clients come through the St. Louis County Homeless Hotline, from which we accept all appropriate referrals.
We are not set up to serve single men or clients who are not drug-clean and sober or who have a history of severe mental-health problems that are not successfully managed by consistent, effective medication compliance. Other facilities exist to better meet the needs of those homeless people.
Families with dependent children (ages 0-18) stay together at Room at the Inn regardless of the age or gender of the children. Clients must also be previous residents of St. Louis County, not have stayed at our shelter in the past six months, nor stayed more than three times in the past. All must be currently homeless, not just threatened with being homeless.
