Donor Connections Why do people give, make charitable contributions to the Sisters of Divine Providence? The answer is simple: they find a connection with these Sisters and have a belief in what they represent.
Please click on this link, Donor Connections, to learn why some of our donors financially support the Sisters. Let us know if you'd like to add your reasons for supporting the Sisters.

Gift of Appreciated Stock
Gifts of stock offer a two-fold tax advantage. First, you receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date the gift is given. Second, you avoid paying the high capital gains tax on the increase of value of your stock.
If you would like to make such a gift or know someone who is interested in doing so, please contact your area development office.

Year-End Giving
As you consider your year-end tax planning, we hope you will consider taking advantage of the income tax charitable deduction. A year-end gift can significantly reduce your income taxes, while providing meaningful support to the Sisters of Divine Providence. All gifts postmarked by December 31 in the year you wish to claim a deduction will qualify. The date on the check does not qualify.
In August 2006, President Bush signed into law the Pension Protection Act that includes incentives for individuals to make charitable contributions through an IRA rollover. Any person aged 70-1/2 or older can make a contribution of up to $100,000 directly from an IRA or Roth IRA without having to count the donation as taxable income if it is rolled over directly to the tax-exempt organization. Not all charitable organizations qualify to receive this type of contribution; however, the Sisters of Divine Providence do qualify under the guidelines of the legislation. The law expires on December 31, 2007. Please consult your personal tax or financial advisor before making a contribution.
If you would like to make such a contribution or know someone who would be eligible to do so,
please contact your area development office.

Gift of Life Insurance
Simply name the Sisters of Divine Providence as both the owner and beneficiary of your policy, in order to receive a charitable deduction. If the policy has a cash value, you may take a charitable deduction equal to the cash value of the policy at the time you make the gift. Payment of the annual premium can also be considered as a charitable deduction. Please consult your financial advisor to see if this gift plan works best for you. Other options are named in the next section on Planned Giving. Please contact your area development office for more information.

Planned Giving
Planned giving can be a wonderful way to perpetuate the values espoused in our mission and ministries. We want you to know what the Sisters of Divine Providence can offer if and when you consider making a legacy gift.
Planned gifts create opportunities for both the charity and the donor. This method of giving enables donors to use their assets to make a lasting gift. It allows the donor to invest in a process of good will that has the ability to accomplish more than the individual can do alone. By leaving a legacy to our Sisters, a lifetime of prosperity is converted into a gift of ongoing significance. For us, operating as a non-profit organization, planned giving advances our mission and ministries by turning your once-in-a-lifetime gift into ongoing support.
Determining what kind of planned gift is right for you is just as important as making the gift. There are a myriad of giving options you can choose - from naming the organization as a beneficiary in your will to a more complex trust arrangement. The Sisters of Divine Providence accept bequest giving in the forms of will bequests, living trust bequests, life insurance/IRA beneficiary designation, etc.

Providence Partners
This is a program of mutual support where members of the Divine Providence community partner with individuals outside of the community by promising to pray for each other. Each Providence Partner does whatever he or she can to support the Sisters' mission to help make Providence more visible in our world; many Providence Partners choose to do this through financial contributions, some monthly, others quarterly, annually or whenever possible.
