Transfiguration House of Prayer It is said that when God closes a door, he opens a window. Surely there is more in store for Sister Marian Senish who, after 40 years of ministering to God’s people at Transfiguration House of Prayer in Butler County, finds herself at the beginning of a new chapter in her life.
How fitting, then, that on Friday, August 6, 2010, God’s Holy Mountain was the setting for the celebration of the final chapter in the House of Prayer’s rich history. Sisters of Divine Providence, Providence Heights staff, friends, and family of Sister Marian gathered together to rejoice with her as she closed the door on this part of her life and look forward with her to what God has in store for her next. Fr. Don Fisher, a retired diocesan priest who lives on the South Side of Pittsburgh, celebrated the Liturgy at an outdoor Mass in the morning, followed by a luncheon. Guests were also welcome to visit during an afternoon open house.
Throughout her 40-year ministry at the House of Prayer, Sister Marian spent her days praying, counseling, and tending the land. For Catholics and non-Catholics alike, many enjoyed a “transfiguration experience” while visiting this holy space. Ever positive, Sister Marian responds to her next challenge by saying, “Today is the day.” Her future is yet to be revealed.
